The Lord God said, it is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him - Gen 2:18
As the above scripture states, man is not meant to be alone. He is not meant to be on an island by himself. Our God, in His infinite wisdom, knew that. It's the reason that He created Eve. Although it is part of God's design for man to be a part of community, we as men like to go it alone. We don't need help. Our pride oftentimes gets in the way of us asking for help or showing that we have a vulnerable side. This contradicts a number of truths found in scripture that addresses the benefits of men being in healthy meaningful relationships with one another. Look at the words of Solomon, considered the wisest man that ever lived: "Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work. If one falls down, his friend can help him up. But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up! (Ecc 4:9-10) Solomon realized the importance of having a partner and a confidante to assist you in life. This scripture has application in regard to fruitful business relationships and also covers the area of financial advice.
One of the things that I value in my relationship with other men is knowing that they "have my back." I can go to them when I need to discuss problems and know that our conversation will be kept confidential. This is a great feeling to have people that will help to protect you and provide a resource for sound advice. Solomon addressed this as well: "Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone? Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken." (Ecc 4:11-12) Solomon realized the benefit of men coming together. They are able to protect themselves more effectively when they are together. They can hold each other accountable and make each other stronger and more courageous, which are two attributes needed to survive in this world.
Part of the vision for this resource is to bring together men that are effective in various areas. With that in mind, I am excited that The Power of One Man has been blessed to have another one of God's servants to assist in this endeavor. He has expertise in bringing people together. In his words, he specializes in "connecting people with each other. " In addition, he brings human resources experience from major corporations that will assist in the area of providing advice and strategies to those that may need help in the way of seeking employment.
