praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved - Acts 2:47 NIV
God provides inspiration for me in the most amazing ways. I carry my IPhone and whenever I hear or observe something that's noteworthy, I immediately record it so that I won't forget it. I was at a Men's Ministry Roundtable on yesterday (thank you Brian for putting this together!) and I heard a phrase that resonated with me. One of the gentlemen, who's name is Josh, made a statement in regard to his goals for the Men's Ministry at the church that he attends. He stated that 'he wants to be a part of a movement where a snowflake becomes an avalanche'. I immediately wrote that down. As I was driving back home, I reflected on that statement. All great things started small and with the proper amount of faith and guidance from God, became something that changed the world.
Men, I ask you, what can we do in our circle of influence to take a snowflake and start an avalanche? Scripture is full of examples of people that started by themselves on a God ordained mission and changed the world. Some of the more common examples include: the apostle Paul, Moses, Abraham, and Elijah. Like these heroes of the Bible, you have the same potential to make an impact on those around you and start the change that will impact the world.
The early church that was described in Acts provides an excellent blueprint for us men to study as we begin the process of changing the world. The first thing that the early church did was praise God. With that action came the enjoyment of the favor of all the people. It is important to note that without having God at the center of your efforts, your endeavor is doomed to failure. The second noteworthy thing is that they came together. Much like the roundtable that I was a part of, we men need to make it a point to come together to share ideas and inspiration with one another. I found an enormous amount of value by being with like minded individuals that are all rowing in the same direction. With the implementation of these two things, the Lord added to the number of people that were being saved daily and Christianity began to spread. A snowflake had indeed become an avalanche.
