The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now. – Chinese proverb
Growing up, one of my favorite musical groups was The Time (yes, this was in the 80s). Their lead singer was Morris Day, and one of the questions that he used to ask doing a number of the songs was "What Time is It?! We knew that at some point doing any of their up tempo songs, this question was coming. Men, the question that I would like to pose to you today in my best Morris Day fashion, is What Time is It for you? What is it that you know you should be doing and are called to do and not doing? The time is now for you to be impacting your families and communities. We can't fall back on the excuse that our time may have passed us by. Maybe the best time to have planted that tree was 20 years ago, but I firmly believe that the second best time is right now.
If you are waiting for the "right time" to do something, you will always be waiting. I fell victim to this train of thought. I was constantly telling myself before starting The Power of One Man that I need to have the perfect website design, I needed to have all the contributors lined up or the podcast ready to go. I then realized that I just needed to start. As a result of taking the big first step, I learned that you will pick up the things along the way and people will come into your life to assist you. The same thing holds true for you. It was time. Solomon realized this when he wrote, " There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven" (Ecc 3:1).
So men, again I ask, What Time is It? If you ask me, it's time for you to utilize all of the things that make you unique and special. It's time for you to embark on that journey that God had in mind when He created you. It's time for you to get off the sidelines and get in the game and contribute. I come into contact with men that have inspired me because of merely seeing them use their gifts and abilities. There is someone out there that will be impacted by you seizing the moment and doing what you were called and equipped to do.
